Colts Battle Falcons in German Capital – Week 10 NFL Action

Guten tag, football enthusiasts. How are you? Everything good I hope on this excellent early start to the tenth week coming directly from Deutschland. The Olympiastadion in Berlin to be precise where at 8.30am CST/9.30am EST and 2.30pm GMT the powerful Indianapolis Colts (seven wins and two losses) take on the Atlanta Falcons (3-5). The fifth game played on soil in Germany and the initial in the capital city.

Pre-match Highlights

When it comes to glittering attire that is an real standout from Katarina Witt on the opening flip. A slight fluff from Sky Sports there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the presenter with an unfortunately hot mic.

So, the coin toss went to Indianapolis and have elected to receive. Daniel Jones and company will be setting up shortly. Can the quarterback recover after a difficult performance in their last game?

Not to be outdone the singer belting out the US national anthem has some of the biggest shoulder embellishments you are bound to notice. The fashion picks are impressive today. The game is about to start after a choir performance for the German anthem. Elegant.

Opening Period Gameplay

Scoreless at 13:30 in the first

Here we go! And we have early drama after Jonathan Taylor catches a screen pass, gains 15 yards on the outside to the right then fumbles … only for his center to save his bacon with the ball retrieval. Colts are in Falcons territory already.

Still scoreless at 10:51

And the excitement continues as the Indianapolis attempts a fourth-down conversion. The risk doesn't work out as the wide receiver fails to catch a fastball from Jones. On the play before the turnover on downs Jessie Bates put a huge hit on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. The Falcons have come out fighting on defense as they try and snap their three-game losing streak. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!

Touchdown Updates

First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36

Was that a missed touchdown by Kyle Pitts? The tight end drops a clanger, he was very open but the ball just swishes through his hands. That play rather sums up the first round pick’s career to date.

A disappointing start but it only gets worse for the Falcons as they turn over possession to the Indianapolis on the 23-yard line. The Falcons quarterback is hunted down and can’t keep hold of the ball.

An agile 22-yard rush from the Colts receiver sets the running back up to roll in for the score on the following play. Kicker Michael Badgley misses the point after attempt. Oops.

Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07

Penix Jr puts the fumble behind him by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a touchdown. Drake London makes some substantial catches to put them in the scoring area then the defense opens up for Tyler Allgeier to run untouched into the end zone through the heart of the field for 13 yards. He completes the drive for a short scoring run of his own. Advantage Atlanta.

Other Tenth Week Matchups

And for afters, the full slate starting at 1 PM EST and 6 PM GMT (with home teams first) is as follows:

  • (5-4) Panthers v Saints (1-8)

  • (5-3) Bears v New York Giants (2-7)
