Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and were in contact with the league office.

The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a set of images on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, he finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
